other book for field trips

Richard Butler, what book would you recommend for looking up moss and lichens and other books I could use when field herping? I have the Okla. herp and amphibian copy, a Peterson's Guide to Birds, but would like to get one for native plants.

I don't know if a good one for mosses and lichens does exist. Most field guides only give you the most conspicuous plants, such as flowering plants and ferns. I think a Peterson is your best bet. I'll ask a friend of mine who is a botanist and see if he'll know.

The Audobon plant guides are pretty good. Their herp guides are horrible though! I have a National Geographic Bird Guide and a Sibley guide, Peterson herps (East and West), Oklahoma herps, Fern Finder, Roadside Wildflowers, and a few other odds and ends.
