Well I’m looking to go to south Texas this weekend. I am wanting to leave Thursday (4-29) but can wait till the weekend. I have to be back the following Thursday. We will be going to an area that is well known for New Mexican milks which will be our target species. You will see hundreds of assorted snakes, tortoises, lizards, bugs, and frogs a night (yes night). We will be staying at a camp in tents with water, showers, and electricity. I have plenty of tents if you need one. All you would need to take would be flashlights, bags, cups, bug spray, hooks, and all the normal collecting stuff. If you want to collect cacti you will need a shovel. If you want to collect specimens of the critters we see you will need to buy the permit. It’s like 50 bux at Wally world. I plan on eating and drinking out of ice chests packed at Wally world on the way down to save $$$. Our biggest expense will be gas. My truck has lots of room but 12 mpg. We can expect to drive 2000-3000 miles on this trip. If you want to go and can swing it let me know. If you have a mini van or SUV that gets better gas mileage and you are willing to drive it also let me know. I would like to get a total of 4 of us to go to split expenses. This is a short notice but the opportunity opened up for me to go so I’m headed out. Also I’ve been getting reports from buddies of mine down there that the area is crawling with critters due to all the rain.
